Return of the Toyota Crown
The Crown was actually the first Toyota model to arrive in the U.S. from Japan. They originally called it the “Toyopet” when they began making it in 1955. Even then, it was a premium Sedan, but they stopped selling it in America by 1972.
Now, it’s back once again, and here are the highlights:
- Hybrid Max Systems
- The same manufacturer that brought you the brilliant Prius hybrid, now has lucrative designs for a fuel efficient Crown. Its Hybrid Max Systems come in three different driving modes: Normal, Eco, and Sport. There’s also a Sport+ mode with even greater emphasis on steering. Regardless of which mode you choose, it’ll be at the top of its class in efficiency.
- Advanced All-Wheel Drive
- The comprehensive AWD is one of this vehicle’s best features. There’s even a separate rear-mounted electric motor to operate the rear wheels when road conditions dictate. You get a couple of transmission options with the Toyota Crown depending on which trim you select. The Platinum Grade has a six-speed manual transmission, whereas the XLE and Limited versions come with an electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission.
- Premium Interior Cabin
- It’s also a comfortable ride with seats packed with ample cushioning and support. You won’t mind riding in the Crown for a couple of hours. The black-woven seat fabric from Softex only enhances its premium feel. All trims come with the most precise dual zone climate control.
- Plenty of Awesome Audio Multimedia
- This model has a very large media display screen as far as Sedans go. It’s a whopping 12.3 inches and delivers all kinds of entertainment, navigational, and safety assistance features. You can turn it on with fun phrases like “Hey Toyota!” It’s easy to update through Toyota’s Direct Connect system. Plus, you’ll enjoy the JBL Premium Audio System (with 11 speakers) available in standard, limited, and platinum packages.
