7 Things You Need to Know About the C-HR

Alabama Toyota Finance near Enterprise | Dothan New & Used Cars Here at Marianna Toyota, we are excited about the Toyota C-HR. This new crossover is a totally different concept than our competitors and provides owners an edgy vehicle that will stand out in a crowd. There are some things you may not be aware of concerning the new C-HR: more It wasn’t supposed to be a Toyota — The C-HR was originally slated to be part of the Scion line. In fact, when it debuted at the LA Auto Show in 2015 it was presented as a Scion. With the announcement that the Scion line would be discontinued, the C-HR was moved over to Toyota. C-HR has a meaning — The model name isn’t just a group of random letters chosen to sound good. The Toyota C-HR stands for Compact size and High Ride height, according to its original press release. Some folks call it the Compact High Rider. Nothing random about that! The US will only get one engine trim — The 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine, which develops 144 horses and is paired with a continuously variable transmission, is coming to the US. Turbo and hybrid trims will remain in Europe. There will be two model trims; a base XLE and a Premium XLE. The premium will add heated front seats, an 8-way driver’s seat, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and proximity entry and start. The C-HR packs in a LOT of safety features — This crossover will be safe with the large number of included features such as forward collision warning, lane departure warning, steering assist, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high beam headlights. But, if you live in a climate where all-wheel drive is useful, you won’t have that option on the C-HR. The interior is just as funky as the outside — Scion/Toyota definitely took a different turn with the C-HR styling, and that includes the interior. Blue trim is used throughout the cabin to highlight the dash and other areas. An infotainment screen tops the horizontal dash, and a lack of buttons and knobs hints that a lot of controls will be touch or voice activated. The C-HR and Prius share DNA — Both will be using Toyota’s TNGA platform which was tuned at Germany’s Nūrburgring. This new platform is designed for Toyota’s mid-size vehicles and uses a combination of reduced weight and improved suspension performance to raise fuel efficiency as much as 15% and give a nice tuned ride. Price and start date are still a mystery — The C-HR will be introduced this year as a 2018 model, and pricing can be inferred as this vehicle will compete directly with the Kia Soul and Nissan Juke. If you are in the Marianna area, stop in and test drive the Toyota C-HR at Marianna Toyota. We’re located at 2961 Pennsylvania Avenue, come and by, we’d be pleased to serve you.

Toyota Still Leading The Green Car Market: 2017 Toyota Mirai vs. 2017 Honda Clarity Fuel Cell

AL Toyota Dealer Near Enterprise | Dothan New & Used Cars Green car sales have risen sharply since the beginning of the 21st century, with hybrid-electric vehicle sales alone rising from a handful of novelty purchases in 2000 to over 3.5 million by 2014. It's 2017 and green vehicle technology is now an established segment in the automotive industry and is poised to define the future of the automotive industry. more Arguably the first hybrid to capture public imagination was Toyota's Prius, which first entered the US market in 2000. Since that debut, Toyota has established itself as the clear forerunner in automotive hybrid technology. While hybrid-electric vehicles (HEV's) are the most prevalent green tech available on the market, next-generation Fuel-Cell Vehicles (FCV's) are starting to enter the picture. The top contenders for FCV's are Toyota's Mirai and Honda's Clarity, both of which feature zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell technology. While the two vehicles are very similar, there are some marked differences between them. Let's take a look. The most striking difference is availability. The 2017 Toyota Mirai is available for purchase, where the 2017 Honda Clarity is currently available only through a lease. This difference alone will make up the minds of many potential owners. Aside from that key difference, there are a few technical details as well. The Toyota Mirai has less horsepower, with only 151 hp compared to the Clarity's 174 hp. However, the Mirai makes up for it with 26 more lb-ft of torque that gives it a bit more pickup. Both vehicles have comparable figures in efficiency, with the Mirai achieving 67 estimated miles per gallon and a range of approximately 312 miles. When compared via price, the Toyota Mirai is about $2000 cheaper on MSRP. Comparable in features, but cheaper and actually available for sale, the Toyota Mirai demonstrates its superiority to the Clarity. In addition to its efficiency technology, the Mirai also includes extensive safety features such as pre-collision notification and automatic shutoffs for the hydrogen tanks. This combined with an 8-year, 100,000-mile warranty on all fuel cell components and free factory maintenance for the first 35,000 miles makes the 2017 Toyota Mirai a highly desirable vehicle for those interested in the latest green tech offerings. Hydrogen fuelled vehicles are currently only available in the state of California, but if you are interested in existing HEV offerings, Toyota has many options to choose from. If you are in the Marianna area, you can view these vehicles and more at Marianna Toyota. We're located at 2961 Pennsylvania Avenue, come and by and take a look, we'd be pleased to serve you.

Toyota Motor Corporation Models Receive 10 Segment Awards

AL Toyota Dealer Serving Dothan | Marianna New & Used Cars Luxury nameplates aren't the only vehicles on the road capable of extraordinary long-term quality. The 2017 J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study, which is now in its 28th year, "examines problems experienced during the past 12 months by original owners of 2014 model-year vehicles," according to J.D. Power. "Overall dependability is determined by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100), with a lower score reflecting higher quality. The study covers 177 specific problems grouped into eight major vehicle categories." more As the results rolled in, the study showed that the Toyota Camry led its segment in the Vehicle Dependability Study and Toyota Motor Corporation received 10 of the 18 segment awards. This is the highest number of awards ever received by one individual corporation in the study's history. Toyota earned a 123 PP100 rating, placing it in third place behind Lexus (110 PP100) and Porsche (also 110 PP100). Toyota moved up one position since last year, beating out Buick, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Dodge, Ford and Land Rover, among many other brands. "While many expensive and niche vehicles do have excellent quality, the fact is that most consumers are shopping in the high-volume mainstream segments," said Dave Sargent, vice president of global automotive at J.D. 200,000+ Miles is the New Black: A Quick Look at Five High-Mileage Toyotas

AL Toyota Dealer Near Enterprise | Alabama New & Used Cars High mileage automobiles may be more common with today’s reliability, but Toyotas have been known to be high-mileage vehicles for many years now. Some believe a Toyota isn’t getting broken in until about 100,000 miles, but the proof is in five Toyotas we have selected as a showcase for longevity. more 2003 Toyota Tundra with 424K miles Wayne owns this long-lived Tundra, and it hasn’t been babied along the way. He indicates the Tundra has towed trailers and campers, hauled materials, and taken spray equipment to the job. There were no reported maintenance issues with this tough Tundra, just the expected wear, and tear and a few dents. 2001 Toyota Avalon with 500K miles Michael is the owner of this rugged Avalon located in North Carolina. Along with a routine commute of 120 miles round-trip per day, he has also taken the Avalon to New York an estimated 100 times, as well as trips to the Gulf Coast and Florida. The Avalon still has the original engine and transmission. His next goal is to hit 700K with the Avalon; we think his original investment in a Toyota Avalon has paid off and then some. 1971 Toyota Corolla with 610K miles Vic bought this antique Corolla for a bit over $2000 in 1971. He has over 600,000 miles on it, and he claims it will still handle 70 mph on the highway. He has replaced the rear axle and added a crate engine, but the rest is original. He says warming up the car before driving it summer or winter, don’t run high or low RPMs, and changing the oil religiously every 3K miles was the key to keeping this Corolla on the road. Toyota Prius with 621K miles Manfred owns this second-generation Prius in Austria, and what makes this case intriguing is the fact it has been operated as a taxi for most of its life. It has the original battery and is still being used as a roadside assistance vehicle which is driven nearly every day. Although the model year of this Prius was not disclosed in our reference source, second-generation Prius’ were built from 2003-2009. 2007 Toyota Tundra with over One Million miles Victor’s 2007 Tundra has been driven all over the country from its home in New Orleans, including Wyoming and North Dakota. He has had the Tundra serviced 117 times, and it is still using the original engine and transmission. After reaching the 1,000,000 mark, Toyota traded him a 2016 Tundra for his old one. Now that’s a good trade! When looking at high-mileage Toyotas, one thing in common is owners who are careful about maintenance. Although this can extend the life of any vehicle, we think you will agree that Toyotas have a special place in their owners’ hearts for keeping them on the road for many years. If you are ready for a long positive relationship with a Toyota, come to Marianna Toyota on Pennsylvania Avenue in Marianna and let us help you pick out your favorite.
