The 2018 Tacoma's powertrains remain mostly unchanged from last year. The five-speed manual transmission isn't available anymore, but the six-speed manual is still here.

The primary 2.7-liter engine churns out a meager 159 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. This four-cylinder engine can be paired with the automatic transmission, with either the rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. The optional engine is a 3.5L V-6 churning out 265 pound-feet of torque and 278 horsepower. The six-speed manual transmission is best paired with the all-wheel drive, for the maximum performance and efficiency.

The exterior of the Tacoma is bold and brawny, with a square design and hexagonal grille. The front grille has received minor upgrades for the 2018 edition. On some models it is darker, on some models it is satin-chrome, and on others, it has a mesh design. All these upgrades do not affect the signature robust and muscular appearance of the Tacoma. The exterior is completely made of composite material, so there's never any fear of rust. The slim headlights are also a signature feature of the Toyota pickup.

The interior has also got a makeover and is now as bold and edgy as the outside. Black leather-trimmed seats are present in all trims, as well as a heated driver?s seat with adjustable lumbar support and 4-way-adjustable front seats. Some of the other interior features include tilting steering column, power-adjustable steering column, heated steering, and optional heated front seats. The inside of the Tacoma feels just like a high-end car. The 2018 edition perfectly packs the beauty and style of a car into the sturdy and robust body of a truck.

Every Tacoma now comes with the Entune infotainment system and 7.0-inch touchscreen display. You also get a voice command, Bluetooth, and a single USB port. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are still missing from this edition.
